The places provided for children reflect society's attitudes towards them. ‘Reform, Fitness and Fun’ is an exhibition exploring the intersection of child development and play theories with the design of public playgrounds in South Australia. It draws on historical resources and sites from across the state and overseas.

Research for the exhibition was carried out by a multi-disciplinary team comprising child development and play specialists, historians and architects from the School of Education and the Architecture Museum at the University of South Australia (UniSA) and industry partners Oxigen Landscape Architects + Urban Designers (opens in new window) and Lady Gowrie Child Centre, (opens in new window) Adelaide.

The exhibition was first presented in 2009 in the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery at UniSA and was curated through the Architecture Museum.
