Information about InfoScholar
InfoScholar was designed by the Libraries of the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) (opens in new window) for the e-Grad School Australia (opens in new window), a virtual graduate school operating in Australia and internationally that provides postgraduate students, their supervisors, post doctoral fellows and universities resources and activities for the development of career-enhancing skills and knowledge.
InfoScholar will help you develop advanced skills in finding and analysing information.
There are eleven modules available which cover the following topics
- Identifying information sources
- Planning a search strategy
- Searching catalogues
- Searching databases
- Tracking research
- Searching the internet
- Evaluating information
- Keeping up-to-date
- Managing information
- Writing and publishing
- Citing sources
Access information
InfoScholar is located at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), on
Blackboard, a web-based course management system.
When you first use InfoScholar you need to follow the instructions below and
then wait approximately 5-30 minutes till you are verified and then repeat the
login steps to gain access.
To access InfoScholar
- go to https://esoe.qut.edu.au/web/login.htm (opens in new window)
- select the Non-QUT users login tab and then the Non-QUT users login button

- when offered Higher Education Australia select the Continue button
- select UniSA from the dropdown list and the Select button
- enter your usual UniSA network username and password if requested
- at the Accept attribute release policy page scroll down and select the Accept button
- if this is your first visit you will need to register for access to Blackboard. The first access attempt produces an error screen; click on the link for e-Grad School user to continue.

A Welcome screen from e-Grad School Australia opens, with your institutional details shown. Click on 'I Agree' to process your account.
- you will get the Processing Your Account page. It will take around 5-30 minutes to process your details. You will have to do this only once.
- after approximately 5-30 minutes, go to blackboard.qut.edu.au (opens in new window) and repeat the steps above to gain access to the ATN Blackboard Home
- at the ATN Blackboard Home select InfoScholar from the My Communities list
