Calendar of Strategies for Successful Research on campus workshops

Strategies for Successful Research (SSR) oncampus workshops are a series of workshops available at each metropolitan campus.

The workshops are available to UniSA academic, research and professional staff, Higher Degree by Research candidates and all postgraduate and honours students.
All workshops are held in the training room in each library.

These workshops are presented by the Academic Library Services Team. The workshops offered at each campus reflect the teaching and research of a Division.

Who's citing whom in Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar?
Do you have a key paper that underpins research in your area? Can you find the papers that informed the research, or see who has cited the paper since it has been published? In this workshop, use Web of Science and Scopus to navigate forwards and backwards in time to discover the impact of the research, find related papers, and create subject and citation alerts. Google Scholar will also be reviewed.

Advanced subject searching in the Ovid health sciences databases offer many features that are not encountered in other databases. Have you wondered about the explode or focus features that relate to subject searching or the option to map to a subject heading? Discover the features of Ovid databases such as Medline, the Nursing database and Embase, explore the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and doing precise subject searching to enhance the relevance of your results and provide a search framework for a systematic review.

Managing and tracking your publications
Are you thinking of preparing a grant application, applying for promotion, or is your UniSA staff home page publication list due to be updated? In this workshop you will learn about the citation features of ResearcherID and Scopus, and set up a ResearcherID profile via Web of Science. You can also automatically track your existing citation counts, view your h-index, see who is citing your research and create a badge/link for your UniSA home page to link to your publications.

Discovering pharmacy and medical sciences databases
Searching for pharmacy and medical sciences information? Using Medline, Embase, International Pharmaceutical Abstracts and Scopus you will be able to develop effective searching strategies, modify and save your search history, and create alerts to keep up to date. SciFinder will also be demonstrated, as well as looking at some of the pharmacy resources that are available, including Medicines Complete, USP-NF Online, and the European pharmacopoeia.
