Evaluation criteria for the selection and retention of journals and databases

The following criteria are used by the Library to assist in the selection and retention of journals and databases

JOURNALS

Is the title peer reviewed?

Is the title described as core by the key professional body for that discipline?

Is the title heavily used?

Is the title indexed in a subject database held by the UniSA Library?

Is the title available in print and/or electronic format?

Is the title of interest to more than one Division?

Is the subject coverage of the title unique or does the UniSA library already hold similar titles?

Is the technical support and software/supply reliable?

Is the title required for accreditation?


DATABASES

Is the software interface easy to use?

Does the Library already subscribe to databases using the same interface?

Does the database have significant Australian content and/or cover major Australian titles in this area?

Does the database cover the top 10 most cited titles in your discipline?

Is the database heavily used?

Is the database required for accreditation?

Is the database able to directly link to the full text of journal articles?

Will the database be recommended as something to use?

Is the technical support and software/supply reliable?
