- Develop and coordinate the actions arising from the Statement of Purpose
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the actions
- Ensure ongoing review of the Statement of Purpose
The Committee pursues a variety of activities outlined below
Support development of early childhood literacy |
Early Childhood Literacy activities and Family Reading Centres The four Public Library Services offer a range of activities and services that support literacy development in early childhood. These include such things as Story time, Giggle Time, Baby Bounce and Rhyme. Please check their websites for more information The Playford and Salisbury Libraries have Family Reading Centres which include resources for parents, caregivers and Early Childhood Professionals. These resources can be borrowed. |

Secondary Teacher Librarian Liaison |
An information session based around the Challenges of ebooks will be held on Wednesday 25 July 2012 from 1:30pm-4:00pm. Although this session is presented by the University Libraries in South Australia there will be input from a School and Public Library outlining their experience in 'providing' ebooks to their customers. Secondary Teacher Librarians are invited to attend. For more information or to register your interest please contact Sandra Barry, Teacher Librarian, Endeavour College. The Public Libraries in Playford, Salisbury, Tea Tree Gully and Port Adelaide Enfield liaise with their local secondary schools to establish links with teacher librarians |

SACE The LLP partners continue to support schools and students undertaking SACE programs. In particular the Research Project. Stakeholders have developed Library Position Statements outlining their strategy to support students.
The University of South Australia has developed an online guide "Research Ready" that may assist students in understanding the research process. |

Professional Development Email distribution list to notify of PD events |
Staff Development activities will be promoted through the Libraries for Learning Partnership distribution list where appropriate. E.g: if sites have available spaces for planned activities these will be advertised across the partnership, or, partners jointly organising an activity based on similar needs/interest. If you would like to be added to the email distribution list please contact Medea Patyi The committee trialled a program where staff from each partner library visit another sector as part of a Cross Sector Extension Program. We hope to offer this again in 2012. |

Partner organisations offer a range of resources and services (PDF 443kb, opens in new window), in many instances access is free. Books, online resources, study spaces, assistance in locating information just to name a few. Please refer to each website for more information.
Cybersafety DECS information is aimed at schools www.schools.sa.gov.au/speced2/pages/cybersafety (opens in new window) Australian government information is aimed at libraries as well as schools MyLanguage.gov.au MyLanguage (opens in new window) provides access to search engines, web directories and news in over sixty languages. Road to IELTS Road to IELTS is a self-study IELTS preparation course produced by the British Council to help candidates prepare for the IELTS exam. It provides access to free online self-study materials to support IELTS General Training and IELTS Academic test preparations. Individual need to will need to join a Public Library (opens in new window) in South Australia to obtain free access in the library, or at home. |

Promotion pamphlets from partner organisations at each site electronic versions on the website where available |
Libraries for Learning partners are able to have their pamphlets and other advertising material available in the partner sites. This will assist in increasing the number of resource information options available for clients. |
