Placing hold requests (requesting loans)
Go to the catalogue (opens in new window)
- perform a search and then click on title, author or date link to display Brief or Detailed record
- check Status details for item availability
- click on Requests at the top of the screen
- University Staff and Students should use their University Username (e.g. "blogjx001" or "blogjx") and Password then click on Login
- choose request Type Hold and click on OK
On the Catalogue Request Hold screen
- select Any Copy option
- choose FIS Loans Desk (Flexible Information Service) as your Pickup Location
- change the Not Needed after date if you want your hold to remain on the system for more than 30 days
- click on Submit Request
- the message Your Request was successfully submitted - you will be notified of its progress via email will then be displayed
We will then post the item to you
In order to be certain the hold has been placed check My Record
- click on My Record at the top of the screen
- scroll down to Requests Pending and ensure that the hold you have just placed is listed
- under the heading of Status ensure that there is a position number and expiry date
- if there is no position information listed, place the request again or contact FIS
You will not be able to place holds on items held in restricted collections, such as short term loan (4 hour or 3 day loans), periodicals, reference collection or special collection
