Loans
- Staff and Higher Degree by Research students may:
- borrow up to 50 items on loan at any one time
- borrow general loan items for up to 28 days
- borrow from the FIS collection
- have up to 4 renewals
- Undergraduate, Higher Degree by Coursework and OUA students
may:
- borrow up to 20 items on loan at any one time (subject to recall)
- borrow up to 50 items at any one time (subject to recall) for Higher Degree by Coursework only
- borrow general and FIS collection items for up to 14 days
- have up to 4 renewals
- delivery time is additional to the loan period
- when borrowing in person, a student ID card or staff library borrower's card is required

- conditions apply if you are a staff member or student living outside Australia
*If in your course information a book has been identified as a text book the University expects you to acquire your own copy
Methods of requesting
- requests via the Catalogue - automated requesting which is the quickest way of obtaining items
- post individual paper requests must be submitted on Loan/Photocopy Request forms
- phone no more than 5 requests
Renewal of loans
- the loan period of an item may be renewed (opens in new window) via the "My Record" (opens in new window) option on the Library catalogue (opens in new window)
- the loan period of an item can only be renewed before the due date
- the loan period of an item may not be
renewed if :
- another borrower is waiting for it
- you have exceeded your maximum number of renewals
- you have exceeded the maximum number of loans
- you have exceeded 60 or more demerit points or blocked from borrowing

- if you are unable to renew a loan online contact us before the due date
- when requesting a loan renewal on the answering service, assume that a renewal has been granted for the same loan period if we don't ring you back
Overdue loans
- the due date is printed on the library docket inserted with loan items in each package
- items must be postmarked for return by Australia Post or Australia air Express on or before the due date to avoid demerit points
- if a loan item is not renewed or dispatched by the due date:
- you will receive an overdue notice
- you will incur demerit points
- you may be invoiced
- you can prevent demerit points and fees by
- checking your item due dates via My Record in the Library catalogue
- checking your student/staff email regularly for any Library notices
- returning or renewing all items by their due date
- ensuring items have been dispatched for return to the library by the due date
Delivery and Return
