ERA Resources

The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative, developed by the Australian Research Council (ARC) in conjunction with the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, assesses the quality and impact of research publication output and uses bibliometrics as one measure of quality.

Bibliometrics...utilizes quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publication within a given field or body of literature1.

These pages provide information about how to use resources to obtain bibliometric measures such as journal impact factors and citation analysis. They will also address frequently asked questions including:

  • How many times have my publications been cited?
  • Is the journal in which I am publishing a quality journal?
  • How do I find out if the journal has an impact factor?
