Koori Mail

Koori Mail Newspaper [Image source: UniSA Library]Koori Mail is a newspaper owned and written by Indigenous Australians for Indigenous Australians. The paper aims to provide news, views, and other material of interest to Indigenous Australians and Australians interested in Indigenous affairs. Produced fortnightly, Koori Mail is distributed Australia-wide. The Koori Mail has been in production since 1991. The UniSA Library has digitised copies available from 1991 - 2011. The 2009 - 2011 editions have been digitised in colour. The university acknowledges the support of the State Library of NSW for providing access to their microfilm editions of the newspaper.

The newspaper is owned jointly by five small Aboriginal organisations in Bundjalung country, on the far north coast of New South Wales:

  • Bunjum Co-operative (Cabbage Tree Island)
  • Buyinbin Inc (Casino)
  • Kurrachee Co-operative (Coraki)
  • Bundjalung Tribal Society (Lismore) and
  • Nungera Co-operative (Maclean)
