Guidelines for the acceptance of theses and other works
The Library includes in its collection high quality scholarship authored by students of the University of South Australia in the following categories:
Doctoral and masters degrees by research
- The Library receives 2 printed copies in accordance with University policy
- First copy for the deposit materials collection and available only for consultation in the Library
- Second copy available for loan and located in the general collection, unless it meets the criteria for inclusion in a special collection
- Digital copies are to be deposited using the arrow@UniSA thesis deposit form.
Masters by coursework theses
- There is no University policy requirement for the Library to automatically receive printed copies
- By convention Schools deposit at least one copy with the Library
- First copy is included in the general collection, unless it meets the criteria for inclusion in a special collection
- Second copy (if provided) is added to the deposit materials collection
- Digital copies are to be deposited using the arrow@UniSA thesis deposit form.
Honours and other final year Projects
The Library does not collect print copies of work at this level. A digital copy will be considered for inclusion in the collection only when:
- a School requests that the work is held as an example of high level academic work
- the work relates to major research projects of the University
- the work relates to the history or development of the University
- the work relates to South Australia as part of the University's community mission
All digital submissions must have the approval of the supervisor or Head of School.
Theses from other institutions
The Library will include theses at the Masters and PhD level from other Institutions in the general collection when
- Donated within the guidelines for acceptance of donated materials or
- Purchased with the approval of an Academic Librarian from recurrent or research funds
All theses will be included in the Library catalogue.
