Introduction
This guide is designed to point you in the direction of electronic resources available in your discipline. The Internet extends the reach of your Library to include a multitude of resources from all over the world, and it is hoped that this guide will provide you with a starting point from which you will be able to pursue your own interests.

There are some very comprehensive collections of Art sites on the Web. Try these for starters:

- ArtSource (opens in new window) a gathering point for networked resources on art and architecture from Mary Molinaro at the University of Kentucky (US)
- The Civilized Explorer - Art on the Internet (opens in new window) contains lists of art-related web pages. Several are galleries exhibiting digitized images of art from conventional media. Some are commercial sites and some are home page. The page is maintained by Phil Stripling

- Getty Center (opens in new window) this is the website of the Getty Center, a United States philanthropic organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and the humanities
- History of Art Virtual Library (opens in new window) this field covers art history and computer applications in art history. - Adelaide Festival Centre (opens in new window) one of Australia's leading performing arts centres, located in South Australia. As well as managing the theatres and environs of the complex, they are one of Australia's most active theatrical producers and entrepreneurs
- Americans For The Arts (opens in new window) national arts policy organization (US)
- American Representational Art Exhibitions (opens in new window) published by the Resource4 Library which is hosted by non-profit art museums and organizations
- Arts Law Centre of Australia (opens in new window) is a national legal centre. They give advice and information on contracts, copyright, insurance, defamation, business structures, employment and taxation to artists and arts organisations in all sectors of the cultural industry
- Arts SA (opens in new window) provides leadership in the strategic development of a strong and sustainable arts and cultural industry in South Australia
- Australia Council for the Arts (opens in new window) the Australian government's principal arts funding and advisory body
- Australian Copyright Council (opens in new window) is an independent non-profit organisation, to assist people who wish to understand more about copyright and to solve particular problems
- Australian Network for Art and Technology (ANAT) (opens in new window) Australia's peak network and advocacy body for artists working with technology
- The British Council (opens in new window) United Kingdom's international organisation for educational and cultural relations
- Country Arts SA (opens in new window) oversees the development of the arts throughout country South Australia by increasing access and participation in the arts and by the development of performing and visual arts touring programs for country regions
- Craftsouth (opens in new window) Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design is the major professional body serving the contemporary crafts industry in South Australia. It represents, develops and promotes South Australia's contemporary crafts industry with particular emphasis on the professional practitioner
- The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (opens in new window) Australia
- Helpmann Academy (opens in new window) is a partnership of all the tertiary arts training schools in South Australia and is focussed on training young people for professional careers in the arts

- Queensland Arts Council (opens in new window) is part of the nation wide Arts Council of Australia network that was formed in NSW in 1946. QAC Branches provide a forum for expressing the artistic needs of regional communities
- Victorian Arts Centre (opens in new window) is administered by the Victorian Arts Centre Trust, a statutory authority appointed by the state government
- Victorian Arts Council (opens in new window) is Victoria's premier regional arts body servicing the arts needs of people in outer Melbourne and regional Victoria. The Victorian Arts Council develops and supports a community-based network across the state which initiates a range of arts activities designed, owned and managed by local communities
