- About Painting (opens in new window) About.com. Provides many links to various sites including acrylics, airbrushing, egg tempura, murals, museums, history, theory and technique
- Art in Context (opens in new window) established in 1995 to serve fine art, community and the general public by providing an online reference library for publication and dissemination of information about artists and where to find their work. The library catalogues and presents ongoing information added by curators, dealers, artists, writers and others. It is a publicly supported non profit organisation and a member of Metropolitan New York Library Council

Databases
How to Find Periodical Articles on Painting. You can search for periodical articles by using Art Abstracts which provides abstracting and indexing for over 400 international art publications, including periodicals, conference proceedings, yearbooks, and museum bulletins from the University of South Australia's Library Homepage.
- In Art Abstracts , choose the Subject Headings option and search the phrase you require eg painting. You will get a list with most recently published article titles appearing first. The list displays a bibliographic citation indicating the author, title, source, page numbers, illustrations, and additional subject headings. An abstract ( a summary of the article contents ) is sometimes included. Check the Library catalogue to see if the title is held
- ARTBibliographies Modern provides abstracting and indexing for more than 300 international art publications including periodicals, books, essays, exhibition catalogs, dissertations, and exhibition reviews
- Design and Applied Arts Index is a comprehensive bibliographic database covering current design and design related journals
- Academic Search Elite provides full text for nearly 1,380 journals covering the humanities, social sciences, general science, multi-cultural studies, education, and much more

- Modern Painting and Sculpture (opens in new window) Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York, U.S.A. Provides information and images on painting from the MOMA. It provides an overview from the 1890's to works of today
- National Gallery of Art (opens in new window) U.S.A. A site that allows you to tour the collection and explore in depth studies on artists
