Postal delivery and return
We use three different types of mail services to deliver loan items, depending on where you live
Metropolitan Adelaide and near country SA
Delivery
- parcels containing loan items are delivered by Australia Post (receipted delivery) so you will need to sign for them
- If you are not at home a card will be left and you will need to collect the parcel at the Post Office
Return
- a reply paid envelope will be enclosed with your loan items in the parcel
- attach the envelope to the parcel
- take the parcel to the Post Office - payment is not required as postage is prepaid
Country SA and other States and Territories of Australia
Delivery
- parcels containing loan items are sent via the courier Australian air Express (AaE) so you will need to sign for them
- if no-one is at your address a card will be left in your letterbox. Either ring the contact number to arrange delivery or collect the parcel from the designated Post Office or courier depot
- if you wish to have parcels delivered to an alternative address please update your "mailing address" on myUniSA and contact the OCLS to update information
Return
- a return prepaid parcel will be enclosed with your items
- Most parcels will have a return sticker. Record the number on the sticker. This will confirm return of the parcel and the number can be used to track the parcel if it should go missing.
- If the parcel has a paper consignment note attached make sure you keep the Sender's Copy. This is your receipt confirming return and the number on it is required to track the parcel if it should go missing
- the weight limit of each parcel is clearly marked on the front - delivery is restricted to this weight limit so we ask that you observe it
- ring Australian air Express (13 12 13) for the parcel to be collected or hand it over at the counter at an Australia Post post office . Check first that Australian air Express parcels are accepted at your local Australia Post office (opens in a new window) - the parcel must be collected by AaE or handed in at the post office no later than the due date of the items to avoid demerit points and Library fees
- if your postal agency/PostShop/Post Office does not accept Australian air Express deliveries contact Australian air Express by phoning 13 12 13 to arrange a pick up
- please do NOT deposit parcels in Australia Post letterboxes
- make sure fragile items such as videos are returned with sufficient padding to protect them
N.B. If your parcel of returned items should go missing in the post, you must contact Australian air Express, as they cannot release information about your parcel to the Library due to privacy issues. You will need your consignment note number, which is listed on the sticker or the Sender's Copy of the consignment note, to enable AaE to track the parcel. If you have any concerns, please contact the Library on 1300 137 659.
Delivery outside Australia
- we recommend that you purchase any text or book to which you need continuous access
- we will mail books overseas on the following conditions:
- you are prepared to organise and pay return postage
- items requested are not on short term loan, in heavy demand, unique or fragile
- the maximum loan period is 8 weeks which includes the time taken to receive and return the item
- we will confirm your address prior to despatching any items to you
- the Library's preferred international courier EMS will not deliver to Post Offices, Post Restante facilities or mail forwarding services
- as an alternative to posting books we can send you copies of contents pages so you can choose a chapter to be photocopied. Due to the Australian Copyright Act 1968 (opens in new window) copying is restricted to one chapter or 10% of a work
