Placing hold requests (requesting loans)
Go to the catalogue (opens in new window)
- perform a search and then click on title link to display the item record
- check Status details for item availability
- click on Request, then on Make a Request
- University Staff and Students should use their University Username (e.g. "blogjx001" or "blogjx") and Password then click on Login
- choose request Type Hold
On the Patron Requests screen
- select Any Copy option
- choose OCLS Loans Desk (Off Campus Library Service) as your Pickup Location
- change the Not Needed after date if you want your hold to remain on the system for more than 30 days
- click on Submit
- the message Your Request was successful will then be displayed
We will then post the item to you
In order to be certain the hold has been placed check My Record
- click on My Record at the top of the screen
- scroll down to Requests Pending and ensure that the hold you have just placed is listed
- under the heading of Status ensure that there is a position number and expiry date
- if there is no position information listed, place the request again or contact OCLS
You will not be able to place holds on items held in restricted collections, such as short term loan (4 hour or 3 day loans), periodicals, reference collection or special collection
