The Ask a Librarian service is designed to help you with the kind of questions you might enquire about at a Service Desk. Questions should generally be concerned with your university studies or research, finding information and learning about how to access and use the Library's resources

Who may use this service?

This service is intended for students and staff of the University of South Australia and students of Open Universities Australia. If you are not a member of one of these groups we will reply to your query if it relates to UniSA Library's collections and resources or the University of South Australia

If your query doesn't relate to the UniSA Library please use the Ask Now (opens in new window) service provided by your State Library or the National Library of Australia Ask a librarian service (opens in new window)

What sort of questions can you ask?

  • What journals or databases should I consult for my assignment?
  • How do I search and mark citations in EbscoHost databases?
  • The citation on this database does not seem to have a fulltext link, can you help?
  • Can you suggest a useful book on my topic?
  • I am having trouble accessing databases from home, can you help?
  • I can't seem to renew my loans online. What am I doing wrong?
  • My lecturer recommended I find an article in an eReader for my course. Where can I find it?

What our service does not provide

  • detailed research or database searches
  • compilation of bibliographies
  • medical/legal advice
  • answers to quizzes, crosswords or competitions
  • genealogical or family research services
  • referrals to commercial services or products
  • requests for documents or loans. Referrals to various UniSA Library services will be provided

When can you expect a reply?
