Printing and photocopying
Printing
There are two ways to print within the Library
- Laser printing is available from all student logon computers in the Library. Print costs are debited to each student's print quota
- Multifunction devices (MFDs) enable photocopying, scanning, colour and black
and white printing from the same machine. Funds must be added to your student
ID card to use this service. All costs are debited against the funds on your
student ID card “Monitor Account”.
Colour Printing and Scanning
The same copiers that you use for photocopying can also be used as colour printers and for scanning.
You can now queue colour printing from any student pool or barn located in the Library to a colour copier / printer. These are located on the ground floor (entry level) and level 4 at City East, ground floor and level 3 at Mawson Lakes, next to the printer room at Magill, on each level at City West and on the ground floor at Whyalla.
The default setting for these printers is single-sided A4 colour. Cost of a copy is 30c per page and this is charged back to your "MONITOR Account" on your student ID card. This "MONITOR Account" is the same account used to pay for any PHOTOCOPYING you do using your student ID card in the Library.
Scanning is also available for 5c a page, you can save in black and white or colour in a range of quality in PDF format.
If you are a CELUSA, SAIBT or OUA student and you receive an error message User "XXXX" does not exist when you log onto a machine in the Library, you must register your UniSA student card with the "MONITOR Account" database. To facilitate this process the Monitor Card Self Registration program is available in the Library on a selected machine at each metropolitan Campus.
Saving and storing files
All computers have floppy drives for saving files. You can also save files to
- CD-RW drives (for larger files)
- USB devices (for faster file storage and larger files)
More information on technical aspects of saving and storing files can be found on the Library's Self Help Guide
Photocopying by students
Copying machines (MFD) providing A4, A3, black & white transparencies and colour copies are available in the Library. Student ID cards are used as copying cards and copies are made by swiping the card in the swipe card readers on each machine. The same machines can be used for printing
Funds can be added to Student ID cards on Autoloader (vending) machines located near copying machines
Students should notify the Library Desk if they lose their card so that a 'lock' can be placed on the card to protect funds. Lost or faulty cards should also be reported to Campus Central who will arrange a replacement card. Library staff can then arrange to have copying funds transferred to the new card
Photocopying by University staff
University Schools and Units may order photocopy cards for use on staff copying machines from the University's Document Services Unit
Photocopying by other Library clients
Photocopy cards may be purchased at the Autoloader (vending) machines. The re-useable cards cost $2.00 which includes $1.00 worth of photocopying credit. Funds can be added to the cards on the Autoloader (vending) machines
