Interlibrary Loans and Document Delivery Service

If staff or eligible students require an item not held by UniSA Library, this may be requested on their behalf through the Library’s Interlibrary Loans service.

To request a copy of an article held at a different UniSA campus, use the Intercampus Document Delivery Service.

UniSA Library may be able to provide resources to external institutions via Interlibrary Loans Resource Sharing.

  • This service is available at no cost to:

    • UniSA Staff (for postgraduate academic study and research purposes)
    • Research Degree Students
    • other approved clients by arrangement with Academic Library Services

    Not eligible for the Interlibrary Loan service? Please contact your Academic Library Services team and they may authorise your request. You will receive email advice of your eligibility to use the Interlibrary Loans Service.

  • Books, conference papers, reports and patents

    • Ebooks will be obtained in preference to print, in all cases.
    • Some items may be in-library use only
    • Books can be recalled at any time
    • ILL loans must be returned by the due date displayed on the front of the item. If you need to renew a loan please contact us and we will discuss your request with the owning Library.
    • ILL items may be returned to any Campus Library

    Journal articles

    • Made available as PDF files, where possible
    • Under the provisions of the Copyright Law of Australia 1968, a maximum of one article may be requested from a given volume or issue unless the articles are part of a themed issue or are on a specific topic
    • Articles will be electronically delivered to your myLibrary account
    • If you require a copy of a journal article which is held at another UniSA campus library, please use the Intercampus Document Delivery Service

    Theses

    • Before placing an Interlibrary Loan request, please check the Research Outputs Repository for UniSA theses as most of our Higher Degree by Research theses are available under Open Access
    • Alternatively, check Trove for Australian theses
    • An electronic version will be obtained in preference to print
    • Requests will be purchased
  • Items will be requested on your behalf if not held by UniSA Library.

    • Search the Library Catalogue as the item may already be part of the Library Collection
    • Log on to the Interlibrary Loan requests form using your UniSA username ID and password
    • Complete a separate interlibrary loan form for each item that you require
    • Complete all sections of the form and include all possible information that will help us locate the item e.g. author, title, journal title, place of publication, date etc.
    • Once submitted, you can check the status of your requests via myLibrary
    • An email will be sent to your UniSA email address once your document request or loan is available
    • Please login to myLibrary to collect your document, or collect your loan from the nominated pickup location
    • You will be advised if we are unable to fulfil your request
  • The University of South Australia Library is able to deliver document requests to you electronically either as an email attachment or by web upload. This is fast, efficient and direct to your desktop.

    Documents are scanned into a digital format (Adobe Acrobat file .pdf) and placed onto the Electronic Document Delivery (EDD) website for you to view, print or save.

    To access your document you will need the following:

    • Your UniSA username ID and Password to access your requests via the myLibrary portal
    • Web browser – e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome etc.
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader software - you can download and install a free copy from Adobe's website

    When your document is available:

    • you will receive an email message detailing how to access your document - with link to the myLibrary portal
    • you may view, print or save your document
    • files are deleted after 14 days

  • Staff are able to borrow items from any of our campus libraries.

    It is important to search the Library Catalogue for the item you would like to borrow before placing an interlibrary loan request.
