Resuing Other People's Work

If you are reusing other people's work, you will need to check that your intended use is permitted.

For works in the public domain (copyright expired, author has waived copyright), permission is not required to re-use.

For works published on website, check website terms for permitted uses. Click-through licenses are legally enforceable.

If the work is published under an open licence, check that your intended use is permitted by the licence and that you are able to comply with the terms.

Always assume that the work you want to use is protected by copyright and that it may not be re-used without written permission.

The safest way to be sure that you are legally entitled to re-use a work is to search for works that have been freely licensed in advance.
