Inclusion at Work Week

Monday 17 to Friday 21 November is Inclusion at Work Week. This week aims to highlight the impact that diverse and inclusive workplaces have on employee mental health, team performance and innovation. It is a chance to encourage consideration of workplace inclusion by age, cultural background, caring responsibilities, disability status, gender, sexual orientation, and others from marginalised communities.

The campaign is led by the Diversity Council of Australia (DCA), who have worked since 2017 to map the state of inclusion in the Australian workforce through the Inclusion@Work Index. The 2023-2024 survey found that employee wellbeing significantly increased in inclusive teams, with workers being:

  • 8 times more likely to be very satisfied in the job than workers in non-inclusive teams
  • 6 times more likely to feel that work has a positive impact on their mental health
  • 3 times less likely to leave their organisation
  • 2 times more likely to have been given feedback they found useful
