Research Data Management

Effective management of research data is vital to the success of your project.

The Library can assist with planning your research project from the outset by creating a Data Management Plan, assisting you to secure storage for your research data, provide advice with where to publish and how to make your research publications and research outputs/data openly available and citable.

Taking the time, at the beginning of your research, to put in place clear, considered, easy to follow data management procedures is critical. Ultimately this will improve efficiency, protection, quality and exposure of your data.

This guide demonstrates how to effectively organise, store, back up, share and access your data.

My Data Management Plans (myDMP) is an easy-to-use self-service facility that allows researchers to generate their own data management plans, and allows researchers to self deposit metadata (descriptive information) about a project that is not already in the University's research system (Research Master).

Common uses of myDMP include research staff creating Data Management Plans to support funding applications for their projects, and postgraduate research students creating Data Management Plans to outline the data planning for their thesis.

The UniSA Data Access Portal showcases a range of Open Access research collections and datasets developed or collected by the University of South Australia.

The UniSA Research Data Access Portal also highlights research projects and publications related to the available collections and datasets, and facilitates a variety of searches by researcher, organisation, discipline and keyword.

Research collections and datasets available in Open Access can be freely downloaded and used to support your research in line with the terms of the licence under which they are made available.
